PROGRAM
Food and nutrition security
We fight poverty in Zambia by supporting sustainable food production and increasing access to nutritious, locally sourced food, enabling people to improve their health.
At A Chance for Change Foundation, we are dedicated to addressing hunger and malnutrition in Zambia by promoting sustainable food production and improving access to nutritious, locally sourced food. Through our programs, we empower communities to build resilience, improve health outcomes, and increase their capacity to feed themselves sustainably.

Why It Matters
Despite Zambia’s agricultural potential, many households face food insecurity due to unpredictable weather patterns, poor farming practices, and limited access to nutritious food. Malnutrition, particularly among children and women, continues to undermine health and economic development. Our goal is to break the cycle of hunger by improving food production, dietary diversity, and nutritional awareness in vulnerable communities.
Our Approach
We combine practical interventions in agriculture with education on nutrition and sustainable practices. Our approach is community-centered and designed to create lasting impacts by building local capacities and improving food security in the face of changing climates.
What We Do
Promoting Sustainable Agricultural Practices
We equip farmers with the skills and tools needed to increase agricultural productivity while minimizing environmental impact. Through the introduction of sustainable farming techniques like organic farming, crop rotation, and water conservation methods, we help farmers grow more diverse, drought-resistant and nutritious crops, such as African Bird’s Eye Chili, ginger, and garlic. We focus on practices that ensure long-term soil health and higher yields, which are key to improving food security.
Training on Sustainable Practices
We provide training on soil health management, pest control, and water-saving techniques such as drip irrigation and mulching.
Crop Diversification
We encourage farmers to grow a variety of crops to ensure a balanced diet and reduce dependency on a single crop. Diversified production helps to maintain food availability year-round and improves nutritional value.
Renewable Energy in Farming
To increase the resilience of farming communities, we introduce renewable energy solutions, such as solar-powered irrigation, reducing farmers’ reliance on erratic weather and costly fossil fuels.
Food Storage & Preservation
We support farmers with the tools and training needed to properly store and preserve their harvests, reducing post-harvest losses and ensuring that food is available during lean months.
Partnering for Change
We recognize that food and nutrition security is a multi-faceted issue that requires a collaborative approach. That’s why we work with a wide range of stakeholders, including local farmers, health organizations, government agencies, and international partners.
Together, we’re building a more resilient, food-secure Zambia.
